Dyscern was founded in 2003 with a simple proposition: allow retailers and OEMs to recover higher yields for the excess inventory, customer returns and damaged products.

Dyscern built its focus around its direct-to-consumer models. By focusing on higher recovery rates within a tightly-defined group of verticals, Dyscern would be able to offer greater value to its partners in acquiring this merchandise. Dyscern places an unusual focus (that we believe should not be so unusual) on customer support, fast customer response times, and technical support. This bolsters our reputation on the Internet, which in turn helps us recover value for our partners.

Dyscern was incubated in the basement of its founder, Jennifer Canty, a "Mompreneur" who conceived of Dyscern as a way to work from home. The incubation allowed Dyscern to hone a streamline, automated process to provide a full-service solution to our customers and business partners. The work from home plan lasted under a year.

Dyscern grew organically and quickly relocated to a warehouse complex in Sterling, Virigina, which allowed it to develop its reverse logistics and asset recovery strength. Dyscern currently processes thousands pieces of consumer electronics and mobile phones per week. This process includes full service testing, refurbishment, kitting and repackaging for direct sale. This process is open to our partners, who have real-time visibility in the process via our Oracle-based system.

Dyscern has worked assiduously to built its reputation on various sales platforms, particularly eBay. We have been a Titanium Powerseller since our first year in operation while maintaining a 99.8% feedback rating. We chose to offer our customers all the amenities they expect when shopping with mainstream retailers: customer service, skilled level 1 technical support and industry-standard return policies. Our Customer Service team, which is home-sourced in the Jackson, Michigan area, provides support throughout the sales process, which contributes to our customer satisfaction rating and our auction values.

Dyscern is a global retail operation, shipping daily to customers around the world. Our MP3 Players, Smartphones and cameras have found new homes in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and even McMurdo Station, Antarctica. We are happy to have provided customer support to everyone from U.S. personnel in Afghanistan to journalists in Zimbabwe. It is humbling to have come so far since 2003.

Dyscern is a privately-funded and privately-held firm. It is incorporated in Virginia.
