If You're Flying | If You're Driving | If You're Doing the Train Thang
Luckily, there's plenty of ways to get to Washington. That's what you get when you have a wedding in a thriving metropolis. Unless you're walking, this page should tell you how to get to the city.
 If You're Flying
The area is served by three airports: National Airport, Dulles International Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Airport.
- Washington National Airport is closest to the District. If you're flying a major airline (Northwest, American, USAir, Continental) or taking the Boston/New York/Washington shuttle, this will be your best bet. It is about five miles from downtown Washington and is located right on the Metro, Washington's subway system.
- Dulles International Airport will be your best bet if you're flying Valujet only. It's about 30 miles from downtown Washington. It is not, however, served by rail, so you'll have to rely on buses or cabs.
- Baltimore/Washington International Airport is about 30 miles from downtown Washington. It will be your best bet if you're flying Southwest only. It is not on the Metro system, but they run a shuttle to the MARC commuter rail system, which will take you into the District.
If you want to shop for fares online, Microsoft's Expedia is an excellent online ticketing and reservations center and a great place to shop for fares (I buy all my plane tickets on the service). If you're old-fashioned and want to get in contact with any airline, here's a starter list, with links to web pages and phone numbers:

If You're Doing the Train Thang
Amtrak comes into Union Station, where you can connect to the Metro system. Your closest stop will be either Dupont Circle on the Red line or Foggy Bottom-GWU on the Blue or Orange lines.
